  • I also read this book recently. I came away feeling kind of sad. Speaker Gingrich is an intelligent man with a wealth of experience and insight into both people and government. He has wonderful ideas in this book, and some key insights (although I'd only agree with ~85%, that's a lot for me). What's sad about this "second contract with America," is that Newt is seemingly relatively ignored by the people who still have real power.

I do recommend this book for everyone who loves America though. It may be, way in the future, considered one of the last truly hopeful poly-sci works in recent history.
